My top “GF Keepers”:

Breakfast, Smoothies, and Juices

Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have a sugary, crumbly, cakey kinda thing for breakfast, but my system would be doomed to crash. For me, for breakfast, I do best with a protein + veg.

Turkey Patties, Eggs, Veggies like bok choy, broccoli, or even sauteed shredded carrots with ginger fill the rotation.

To make a batch of Turkey Patties, mix ground turkey, fresh rosemary, sage powder, salt, 1 egg. Cook in a cast iron for almost 3 minutes on each side. Serve with a side of veggies like steamed broccoli, or if you need some carbs: 1/2 a sweet potato with cinnamon.

Eggies do not affect your cholesterol! Sugar does! So ditch those old beliefs and throw some eggs in your cast iron!  Add some veggies as a side. I add Himalayan salt and turmeric. Scramble (push the edges to the middle), or make an omelette with other veggies of choice (add Kimchi or Kraut, and fresh cilantro to make it a gut healer!). Serve on a plate, or on a soft corn taco, with avocado!

My favorite eggs as of late: two eggs with salt and pepper, on some microwaved corn tortillas, with Spicy Ginger Kimchi, sunflower sprouts, and cilantro. Flavorful and fresh!


Create Your Own Breakfast Skillet– I love this recipe… you use what you have!

Avocado “Toast”– Love these… you don’t use bread… it’s sliced sweet potato! You’ll crave these bad boys for sure!

Rising Sun Juice– Mmmmm…. ginger…

Applegate’s Chicken and Apple Breakfast Sausage Patty. Love these things! Great with eggs, and a carrot ginger stir-fry. Have a gluten free bagel? I’m there!

Simple Strawberry Cream Smoothie I always add protein powder to my smoothies. I currently use Vital Proteins Collagen Powder.

Chocolate Avocado Smoothie– Raw cacao is so high in magnesium! Such a good excuse to eat chocolate, especially for breakfast!

Once a month I indulge in making a batch of gluten free pancakes (sometimes it’s a waffle). I’ll take my GF Breakfast Pinterest Board to find a recipe, depending on if I want chocolate chip, pumpkin, vegan banana/chocolate, or blueberry. If you’re making an oat flour, blend it well.

Also, once a month or so, I make a jar of Overnight Chia Seed Puddding. Make sure to give in a shake a few minutes after combining the ingredients! Great for the on-the-go-morning. Have some sliced fruit, or berries to top it all off.

A bought a bag of sweet potato tater tots to create a tater tot stuffing. When that didn’t happen, I made a Tater Tot Waffle, and we were blown away. Served with eggs and bacon.

Baked Strawberry, Banana, & Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Casserole– The kind of recipe that makes you say, “What the *#@!?”


Instant Pot Chicken & (GF) Orzo Soup– My newest go-to soup recipe. I love this because organic chicken legs are way cheaper than breasts, and when you throw them in the instant pot with water, you make your own allergy free broth! I sometimes use just 5 legs (knowing I won’t have as much meat), I’ll add more veggies (& dark greens at the very end, too!), and I use a gluten free orzo found at Wegman’s. Make some, keep some, freeze some.

Leek & Potato Soup– We Love this recipe! Sometimes I use fresh sage in lieu of one of the herbs. The potatoes make this so creamy!

Turkey Meatball and Spinach Soup– a soup to have in the rotation. I use a dairy free cheese to top it off.

A Go-To Chicken and Rice Soup– I swear I made Amy’s recipe at least 20 times!

Roasted Acorn Squash & Sweet Potato Soup– Siggghhh, talk about a perfect autumn soup. This recipe calls for Garam Masala. Be careful of this spice! The one I had (from India) glutened me, so now I make my own blend.

Amy’s Gluten Free Soups- I’ve had a few, and surprisingly the Indian Golden Lentil and the Organic Medium Chili (with some Sriracha) are my favs.

Summer Heirloom Tomato, Avocado & Herb Salad– Christina’s Salad on MindBodyGreen. I’ll often eat chopped cherry tomatoes with avocado, salt, olive oil, lemon juice, with fresh chopped basil. So fresh and yummy!

IMG_20160611_132038Hilary’s World Best Veggie Burger with Follow Your Heart’s Garden Herb “Cheese” on a Gluten Free Bagel. Toast the bagel in the toaster oven, the burger on the stove. Add the cheese for the 2nd half of the burger’s cook-time. Add a splash of water and quickly cover (to melt the cheese), or melt the cheese in the toaster oven once you’re done with the stove. Add fresh basil, or lettuce, and veggies, or pesto. Plain is great in a pinch!

IMG_20160513_180936Impressive Chicken Saltimbocca– This recipe is ridiculous. Sooooo good! I love Yoda eye-ballin this one.

Rob’s Favorite Chicken Strips– We love these! I love these because I don’t have to deep fry them (in oil, using lots of oil, making the house smell like oil.) Rob loves them cuz they are great. He dips his in a Buffalo/Hot sauce mix. I make an allergy free dip: blended avocado, lemon or lime juice, salt, cilantro or basil, and some water.

Rasta Rob’s Jamaican Curried Chicken– A staple meal in our home, and in my bestie’s, too! Such a tasty, simple recipe, that tastes even better as leftovers!

Harvest Turkey Meatloaf Stuffed Delicata Squash– This… recipe… is… AWESOME!

Instant Pot Carnitas– Awesome! Adjust to your allergies. Serve with lime, cilantro, hot sauce if you can handle it. Serve on soft corn tacos (microwaved between two damp paper towels for 40 seconds).

“Salt and Pepper Stew”– My dad shared this recipe with me, we loved it, so I shared it with my BFF. For two years I was laughing because she referred to it as “salt and pepper stew.” Um, there’s other flavors in there…. I finally discovered an old email where the subject line read “salt and pepper stew,” with me explaining to her to add salt and pepper to each bowl of the stew. Enjoy! Can be made in the instant pot, but definitely add the meat first, and the veggies way later.

Lemon Chicken Piccata– a regular in the rotation! I sub cornstarch or rice flour for the flour, and omit the capers. I add a couple of lemon slices while the chicken cooks (Rob loves to eat them!).

Shepherd’s Pie– Can be made with instant mash, ground turkey, and any veggies you like.

Gnocchi with Chicken Sausage, Brussels Sprouts and Apples– I omitted the apples, and added some dark, leafy greens in the last minute of boiling the gnocchi. Sometimes I make gnocchi with prosciutto and greens! Conte’s Pasta sells some great GF/DF gnocchi, cheaper if you can find it in-store.

Spaghetti Squash Shrimp & Broccoli Carbonara– One of Rob’s favorites! The link doesn’t include broccoli, but I add it. Over the years, I’ve omitted the cheese, and Rob prefers it like that. Spaghetti squash is halved, de-seeded, cooked in oven or microwave. Cook bacon in skillet or oven. Steam the broccoli, or cook in oven with squash. Cook shrimp in bacon fat/butter/Old Bay. Add the spaghetti squash, broccoli, and crumbled bacon. Add fresh herbs or dried thyme, salt and pepper. More butter or a good splash of dairy free milk (or broth) mixes it all up. Yum!

Juicy Skillet Pork Chops– Easy sauce makes this extra special. Omit any spices that might be bothersome. Great with a Cauliflower Mash and some veggies.

Paleo Stromboli (AIP)– Japanese yams make up this interesting treat. No cheese needed! You can use prosciutto as the recipe states, or sometimes I use turkey pepperoni. Make sure to use rosemary and salt, and maybe another flavor or sauce!

Spinach and Zucchini Lasagna {Dairy Free, Gluten Free}– An amazing recipe from This is awesome. Also, I use this “tofu ricotta cheese” recipe for so many other recipes! Put it on some GF pizza with pesto and cherry tomatoes, or make some chips with corn tortillas, coconut oil, and sea salt, and use this “cheese” as a dip. I have some in the fridge right now!

This Rib Recipe from All Recipes with This Rub the Food Network- OMG! SO GOOD! The best ribs I ever had, and I made them! Once it’s done in the oven, add a little BBQ sauce, and broil for about 3 minutes.

Not-So-Slow-Roasted Gluten Free Ginger Soy Wings– I’ve made wings in numerous ways; however, each time I said, “I should have just made them with my Not So Slow Roasted Recipe, d’oh!”

IMG_20160520_182250Baked Cod– Fresh when it’s on sale, or frozen from either Wegman’s or Trader Joe’s. Sprinkle some lemon juice, dairy free butter, Old Bay, garlic, a tiny bit of lemon pepper, and maybe some crushed tortilla chips (you can use gf breadcrumbs). Add some fresh grated Follow Your Heart’s Garden Herb “Cheese.” Served with a lemon, and some broccoli and quinoa mix. So good!

Kale and Potato Gratin from thekitchn- A staple in our house! Use a dairy free cheese. Sometimes I skip the gf breadcrumbs. Great with lots of garlic and fresh herbs!

IMG_20160604_170054Chicken Breasts with Leeks and Parmesan Cheese Recipe– You will not believe how AMAZING this dish is! I think Jessica says it perfectly, “This chicken breast recipe is an easy dish to throw together, but it seems more elegant and complicated than it actually is. I love how the sweetness of the leeks complements the chicken, and a handful of parmesan cheese adds a nice richness.” Leek are so sweet! Who knew? Talk about an amazing sauce: I used Follow Your Heart’s Garden Herb “Cheese” to make this dish dairy free.

Zucchini Fritters from Slim Palate- Have sour cream for those that can do dairy, and melt some dairy free cheese for yourself!

My Daaaaaad’s Fried Zucchini– One of the first recipes I learned!

The Best Turkey Breast either one of us ever had from thekitchn. Add a little Bell’s Seasoning, and you’ll rethink the idea of “simplicity.” I used to make an infused turkey with “secret ingredients” and I thought that was good.

Tofu Stirfry– You want to know how to make tofu in an appetizing way? Here it is. Feel free to use fresh veggies!

Crockpot Root Beer Barbecue Chicken– Snowflake rolls for him, Schar’s gluten free Ciabatta Rolls for her.

Sesame Chicken with Broccoli and Bok Choy Stir-Fry from Chelsea’s Culinary Indulgence- When all else fails, make a stir-fry! Just be sure that all of your Asian ingredients are gluten free!

Handy Gluten Free/Dairy Free Crabcakes– There is a god… a Crab God. (These contain soy, so I now make my own…)

My GF/DF Crabcakes:

1 lb Crab meat, 3/4 c GF breadcrumbs,
minced: celery, white and light of a green onion, jalapeno (optional)
2 egg whites+ 1/2 cup dairy free yogurt (or 2 eggs if no yogurt)
fresh herbs: used a little thyme, salt, pepper,
1 Tbls. old bay, some fresh lemon juice, minced garlic if you’re not low FODMAPS.

This recipe makes about 8 crab cakes. I add some cayenne to Rob’s, he likes spicy.

I put a small slab of butter on each cake. Bake for 20 @ 350, then broil: 90 seconds, check, and broil at 30 second increments until done. Yum!

Baked Chicken Taquitos– Something to have in the rotation. Adjust ingredients as needed.

Sriracha Honey Chicken– Mmmm… everything is better with Sriracha. Serve with some fresh sides.

Sesame Red Curry Chicken with Bok Choy and Sweet Coconut Rice from the Food Network.

Curried Sweet Potato Latkes– I could eat a million of these. I fry these guys in avocado oil, you could use coconut oil. Keep the  jar right by your side ready to add more to the pan after each batch.  Great for breakfast leftovers, too!

Kohlrabi Fritters with Avocado Cream Sauce– Yummy recipe. So easy if you use the shredder on your food processor. A great recipe for avocado cream sauce, which I use for dip for chicken strips.

Garlic Chicken, Zucchini and Corn– Who knew these three things went together so well? Oh, I guess Olena did! This was easy and delicious. The boyfriend wanted it over rice, so that was quite nice. Grab a bag of organic frozen corn the next time you see it!

Sides & Condiments


Rebecca’s Dairy Free Easy Pesto from All Recipes- Aww, my little sis got me the heaviest mortal and pestle known to man. Makes some bad ass pesto.

My go-to Cauliflower Mash. Rob prefers these over regular mash! SO good. Be mindful how much broth you transfer to the food processor. I don’t add any unless needed. Add more salt and pepper.

Pan Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Bacon– Um, Yum!

Baked Parsnip Fries and Rosemary– WHY are these SO GOOD!? There’s a certain sweetness to these babies, and the rosemary and salt round it all off.

Maple Butter Carrots from My Cooking Spot. I’m not a big cooked carrots fan, but this recipe made me reconsider these veggies!

Roasted Fingerling Potatoes With Seasoned Salt from I get so excited when I see Fingerlings! Make with other roasted veggies, like: carrots, onions, and garlic.

Candied Sweet Potatoes with Pecans and Dates {Paleo & Vegan}– I made this for a Thanksgiving dinner side… and I was asked to bring it for Christmas dinner! Sooooo good! It was great to say “You’re eating paleo!” From PaleoRunningMama.

Loaded Sweet Potato Skins– Who doesn’t like Sweet Potatoes? Who doesn’t like bacon! From Sally’s Baking Addiction.

Gluten-Free Raspberry Coconut-Almond Bars– OMG! Ridiculously good and impressive! My boyfriend is able to see me as the Goddess that I am… well, only after I make these! Definitely worth buying the couple of flours this recipe calls for. OMG, so good! The Gluten Free Goddess is truly a goddess for bringing these into the world! Made these several times with different flavors.

Update: I now make  Raspberry Crumble Bars– I use gluten free all purpose flour, and pre-made organic jam.

Easy Avocado Chocolate Truffles– OMG! These truffles from WhatTheFork are so amazing! So rich! I feel so fancy!

The BEST GF Apple Crisp ever from Hey That Tastes Good.

Baked Apples Stuffed with Oatmeal and Brown Sugar– Easy weeknight dessert.

No-Bake Oatmeal Energy Bites from Gimme Some Oven- A tried and true recipe.

No-Bake Pumpkin Pie Energy Bites (GF, Vegan, Paleo)- A take on my favorite Oatmeal Balls, from leelalicious.

Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Ice Cream- So stuck on their Ginger Cookie Caramel. Mmm. If I’m in need of a topping, I add some Fluff as my “ghetto/lazy dairy free whipped cream.”

Udi’s Maple Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie– You know I’m grabbing a box of these whenever they’re on sale.

IMG_20160322_144456756Gimbal’s Gourmet Jelly Beans– A family secret (cheap-jelly-belly-like-jelly beans). Found in some Walmarts, and are my downfall when I’m trying not to eat sugar!

Snyder’s Gluten Free Pretzels– Plain in a baggie for on the go, or dipped in peanut butter! Great for Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzel Sandwiches: make peanut butter sandwiches with two of them, and then dipped that in melted chocolate sweetened with honey. Place them in the freezer to set, then store them in the fridge.

Cinnamon Coconut Custard Cake– I only made this once, but I remember Loving it! I used chocolate chips that I knew were dairy free.

We have a constant flow of Kettle Brand Potato Chips in our house! Love the Pepperoncini, and the Maple Bacon the most. Be sure to check the labels, as some flavors include milk.
