Does your mother know the foods that you love and the foods that you despise? It seems like ever since I was a child, I was amazed how my mom couldn’t keep it straight. “No, I hate tomatoes!” I’d have to tell her again and again.
Before a recent visit to my parents’ house in beautiful Florida, I “dropped” to mom that I make smoothies EVERY MORNING for breakfast. In her kindness, she had the fruit bowl filled, but since day one of our stay, these bright green apples were staring at me. Granny Smith? Ehhhhh…
Halfway through our visit she said excitingly, “I got the apples you like!” Finally! Mom remembered! However, I didn’t have the heart to tell her, I stopped loving Granny Smith YEARS AGO! Working my magic, I created a Sour Green Smoothie, that at first sip my boyfriend said, “Mmmmm, this is the best smoothie you’ve ever made!”
Maybe Bob Ross says it best, “A happy little accident.”
1 Granny Smith apple
1 kiwi
1 small handful of spinach
1 handful of pineapple
5 ice cubes
About 1 c. OJ (I used pineapple flavored)
Add some spirulina if you wish!
