In My experience, you don’t find a mantra, it finds you.
Even though I’m a simple Being, a yogi, I do Love technology.
Can’t we all appreciate technology? i do on a daily basis:
i type this from my new touchscreen Chromebook.
i’m constantly Casting my Google Play Music or commerical-less Youtube to my T.V.
i surely remember the days of dial-up, and it taking three days to download some music.
i also remember the joy I received from strolling my fingers across the tops of records, and being One with the music as the needle followed the record’s grooves.
“I love technology… but not as much as you, you see?”
So on a recent Saturday morning, I was doing things about the house and thought, “I could go for some Bowie.”
Been a long time fan of that man, but isn’t it so strange once someone dies?
I mean, their work becomes a capsule. It’s finalized. There is a beginning and a definite end. And in that way, we can look at their work as a whole, instead of it just floating freely into the future.
So a playlist at random becomes full of surprises! (Thanks, technology! How often we get stuck in old grooves!)
To my surprise, Under Pressure came on. I had completely forgotten that David Bowie sang along Freddy Mercury on this tune.
My boyfriend instantly joked along with the song, repeating Vanilla Ice saying:
Now, I am one who has hardly ever followed lyrics. (Well, I do know Bohemian Rhapsody, but doesn’t everybody?)
I’ve been this way my whole life. Melodies: I would win Name That Tune by the second note of every song. I’m almost a genius when it comes to melodies, but lyrics: it’ll be 10 years later until I realize what someone is saying.
I had hearing issues as a baby and “tot”, so maybe that is why. However, I noticed my dad is more of a melody man, so maybe it’s just who I AM.
So as (Psoas) Under Pressure played on, I heard Freddy’s voice and it hit me…
Is he saying “Give Love?” Is he repeating “Give Love, Give Love, Give Love, Give Love?”
Googling the lyrics, there it was… Give Love.
Once you Open Your Heart, you See the Open Heart in others.
Once you Open Your Heart, you See that the people who command crowds often wear a crown that descends words of grace to reach the face of All, and glitter them with gold.
The song shares:
“Can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can’t we give love that one more chance?
Why can’t we give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?..
‘Cause love’s such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves.”
“Pressure on people – people on streets,”
As I See others these days, I See the pressure on the people, these people on the streets, and without hesitation, the trailing voice echos through:
Give Love, Give Love, Give Love, Give Love…
QUEEN LYRICS
“Under Pressure”
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streetsIt’s the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming, “Let me out!”
Tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people – people on streetsChippin’ around, kick my brains ’round the floor
These are the days – it never rains but it pours
People on streets – people on streetsIt’s the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming, “Let me out!”
Tomorrow gets me higher, higher, higher…
Pressure on people – people on streetsTurned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don’t work
Keep coming up with love but it’s so slashed and torn
Why, why, why?LoveInsanity laughs under pressure we’re cracking
Can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can’t we give love that one more chance?
Why can’t we give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?..
‘Cause love’s such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure
